New Year's Resolution Ideas

New Year's Resolutions or Goals?

Do you make New Year's Resolutions and actually keep them?

Yeah, me either.

That's why I started creating goals instead of resolutions.

Goals are easier to keep track of and you can make them measurable and attainable.

For example, if you make a resolution to clean and organize your house, do you really think you will follow through?

Probably not.

Setting small, measurable goals for yourself

Instead, let's create small, measurable goals.

Goal 1:

In order to have a more organized home, I will pick one item to donate or discard at least once a week.

As you go week by week, you can assess how you are doing with your goal.

Are you successful?

Can you upgrade the goal to 2 items per week?

Or, are you having trouble with the goal and need to downgrade to one item once a month?

This way, you can keep track of your progress with your goals and modify them as necessary.

This will give you motivation to keep going and not give up if you just make a resolution of having a more organized home.

Goal 2:

I will cut my spending by at least $20 per month in order to save more money for retirement.

If you are successful with this goal, you can upgrade the goal to $25 per month, etc.

If you aren't doing well with the goal, go ahead and downgrade the goal to $15 per month so you do not become discouraged.

Make Yourself Accountable With Your Goals

As for myself, I am setting some business goals for the upcoming year.

I found a paper where I wrote down my "2024 Vision" and I don't feel like my vision came to light because I did not set goals specifically for my vision.

So, to hold myself accountable, I will post my goals here and hope I can achieve the goals in the upcoming year.

Goal 1:

In order to build my blog, I will post a new blog post at least once per month.

Goal 2:

I will send out a newsletter at least once per month to my email subscribers in order to make better connections with my email subscribers.

Goal 3:

In order to increase my email subscriber count, I will collaborate with at least one person at least once every 3 months.

Measuring Success With Your Goals

The best way to keep track of your goals will be to write them down.

Create a binder and write each goal on a separate page.

You can use checkmarks, dates, a grid, or anything you can think of to keep track of your goals.

Will you be making resolutions or setting goals for the upcoming new year?

Let me know in the comments!

Wishing you a very happy and successful new year,

  1. I like your goals. They are simple and actionable. I will be setting a few new goals for 2025 like creating more lead magnets and sharing quality new programs for parents in the form of online courses and free resources.
